Content
Digital content lies at the heart of every knowledge value chain and, for that reason is a fundamental
pillar of our activities. It includes not only high-quality digital content but also different types of data.
With regard to digital content, we work to support the organisations producing, as open as possible,
content for further dissemination and reuse, in order to maximise the value flows which result. For
that purpose, we use e-infrastructures of high quality and a broad general scale which have been
developed by using a series of national and European programmes.
Our specific priorities in this core area concern
• Providing support services for the deposit, documentation, safe preservation and dissemination
for reuse of reliable digital content [data and metadata], in accordance with European and
international standards
• Providing services to cultural organisations for the improvement of the document quality of
their content, its dissemination with interoperable means, long term preservation and potential
reuse, as well as the promotion of Greek cultural heritage
• Highlighting our organisation as a pioneer in the sector of digital content for libraries and the
central point of access to reliable Greek digital content
• Theencouragingof theuseof digital content ineducation, culture, researchandentrepreneurship.
• Establishing ourselves as the organisation for perpetual preservation of digital content in
Greece.
• Upgrading the digital content of the Scientific and Technological Library
• Support, with content and services, in the area of knowledge where there is data uniqueness,
advantages and significant effects, on an economic, scientific and socιαl level.
• Establishing ourselves as the largest co-publisher of electronic scientific publications of open
access.
• Metrics for the progress of our activities in the sector of digital content and upgrading of the
quality
• Sustainable and safe e-infrastructure for all of our services and support for the operation of the
activities.
