EKT”s role: Co-ordinator of 9 partners
Aim: The aim is the co-ordination of strategies for Open Access in 6 Mediterranean countries
[Greece, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal and Turkey], the documentation of existing structures and
policies, support for synergies and encouragement of policy makers to commit to Open Access.
Results: The creation of working groups and the holding of relevant seminars at a national and
international level, the organisation of international conferences for the promotion of Open
Access policies, the development of guidelines for the implementation of Open Access policies
by the authorities [ministries, research and research funding bodies etc] using a top-down
approach, and the development of the ‘Mediterranean Open Access Tracker’, a tool that will
provide details on the mapping of national strategies, policies and structures for Open Access in
the 6 countries participating in the project.
EKT”s role: Coordinator of 16 partners
Aim: The aim is the provision of value-added services from the European Network of National
Contact Points for the Research Infrastructures programme, through the support of transnational
collaborations for the effective execution of the programme. The project - the expansion activities
now result in best practices between network members for the provision of high level services
for the scientific communities and other recipients of the programme – develops infrastructure
and monitoring activities for European and regional national policies, programmes and initiatives
for the Research Infrastructures.
At the same time, it creates a friendly environment strengthening the dialogue in relation to the
ecosystem of Research Infrastructures, provides an all inclusive repository for the Research
Infrastructures and updates for the programme in all subject fields of the 7th Framework
Programme, as well as creating an intellectual and co-operative environment for scientific
communities and users of the Research Infrastructures with the aim of strengthening the whole
of the European Research Era.
Results: Observatory function [for national / regional policies, programming / funding tools for
Research Infrastructures etc], the development of knowledge repositories, statistics and tools
for better services, wider promotion to policy making bodies etc.
