Aim: The RECODE project will boost and strengthen the existing network and active communities
in the field of open access, so as to address challenges within the open access, data dissemination
and preservation sectors.
Results: Open access to research data includes several different networks, initiatives and
projects in various areas. Many organisations are already addressing key barriers to open
access to research data, technical and infrastructural issues, ethical and legal issues, as well as
state and institutional policy fragmentation. RECODE provides a space for European stakeholders
interested in open access to research data to work together to provide common solutions for
these issues.
Recommendations for a policy framework to support open access to European research
data, is one of the results expected from the project. It will conduct studies of good practices
and exchange good practice principles with interested stakeholders and institutions during
networking activities. The RECODE project will culminate in a series of policy recommendations
for open access to research data targeted at different stakeholders and policy-makers.
Results: LAPSI 2.0 will promote the exchange of knowledge and experience of the network
participants who comprise the wide PSI community, it will increase the understanding of the
legal aspects of PSI between participants in the European content market and it will highlight
the importance of linking these legal aspects with the exchange of opinions regarding the
technological, institutional and socio-economic impact of opening PSI for the creation of a multi-
disciplinary approach.
LAPSI 2.0 will permit the cross-border use of PSI. It will stimulate the availability of open data
and, finally, it will encourage economic growth in the information society. In this way, it will
support European Commission’s Open Data Strategy by providing valuable advice about the
vision of the European Commission regarding their Digital Agenda programme and their Europe
2020 strategy, as well as items of the ‘open data and access to scientific information’ ICT PSP
Work Programme 2012.
