«National Information System
for Research and Technology /
Social Networks - User Generated Content»
Duration: 2011 - 2015
Funding body: European Operational Programme ‘Digital Convergence’
Subject field:
Digital Content, Digital Content Services, Information and Communications Technologies, e-infrastructures
EKT’s role: Beneficiary
Aim: The project’s objective is the expansion and further development of the national e-infrastructure of
NISRT by integrating new Information and Communications Technologies and models of dissemination
of content which converges with the international reality of present-day academia and research and, more
broadly, supports research, education and life-long learning. The central goals are the reinforcement of
the quality of research and communication in academic and scientific areas, the support of open access
to research results and the highlighting of potential general use and reuse of scientific and cultural digital
content. The approach adopted is based on the accumulation of scientific and cultural content, its active
distribution and co-development by its users - user generated content - using social networks and open
access infrastructures which already exist but which need to be further extended.
Results: The new information systems and tools which are being developed, in combination with
the collection and dissemination of important new cultural content, provides upgraded electronic services
in the following key areas:
1.
e-services for digital libraries
2. Social networking and content services
3. Services for development of electronic research tools
4. Repository services
5. e-publishing services
6. Services for documenting, validating and organising research activities
