Special publication from EKT regarding the official statistics on
Research & Development expenditure in Greece
For even better understanding of the indicators produced, we brought out a special publication with
the statistics for 2011. The publication, which is also available in English, gave the basic indicators
which verified Greece’s position internationally and made the comparison of the Greek R&D system
with the rest of Europe possible.
At thesame time, emphasiswasgiven topresenting indicatorswhichcontributed to theunderstanding
of the relations and the dynamics of R&D activities in all sectors of the economy. Data was presented
for R&D activities in academic, research and business sectors, sources of funding, personnel and
their classification, as well as the geographical distribution of R&D activities.
The data were given with no interpretation, the ultimate goal being to provide a basis for policy
development by the competent authorities as well as for further analysis by the wider stakeholder
community in research and businesses.
