Through the development of new services, here, at EKT, we aim to enhance the formation of a
strong network to highlight digital content produced nationally. Using state-of-the-art technology,
particularly SaaS [Software as a Service] and Cloud Computing, we enable the deposition,
management, preservation, and dissemination of digital scientific and cultural content.
The new services, the development of which continued during 2013, enables Greek cultural and
scientific organisations to present their data and content. The services, which are, at present,
provided at no extra cost on the part of the users, make it possible for them to create their own
repository.
Although the services are web-based, meaning that there is no need for individual software
installation, they are adapted to meet the requirements of each user. The services come in two
forms:
• Using our online services, each organisation can collect their digital content, document it, store
it, organise it, manage it and disseminate it all in accordance with international standards.
• OpenABEKT is our new system for organising, managing and disseminating library content and
can be easily activated by the user from their computer. It has all the functionalities necessary
to develop and manage:
