4. Scientific Networks and Partnerships
4.1 The networking of Greek Organisations
The FP7-HEALTH programme involved organisations from EU Member States, Associated,
Candidate, Candidate Countries and Third Countries.
The average consortia in the FP7-HEALTH projects consisted of 11 partners per project, as is the
case for the projects with Greek coordination. In this sense, 124 organisations participated in the
11 FP7-HEALTH projects coordinated by Greek organisations.
The 113 FP7-HEALTH projects with (139) Greek participants contained a total of 1966 participants.
The average number of participants per FP7-HEALTH projects with Greek participation was 17.
Among the 113 FP7-HEALTH projects with Greek participation, 89 were Collaborative Projects
(with 112 Greek participants), 21 Coordination and Support Actions (with 24 Greek participants)
and 3 Networks of Excellence (with 3 Greek participants).
4.2 Collaborating Countries
The 113 FP7-HEALTH projects with Greek participation recorded a total of 1.966 partnerships. Of
these, 1.685 were from EU 28 countries ,133 fromAssociated Countries, 112 from Third Countries
and 36 from Candidate Countries.
The main countries cooperating with Greeks in these projects are: Germany with 256
collaborations, the United Kingdom with 251, Italy with 192, France with 162, Netherlands 159 and
Spain with 128 collaborations (see Chart 20).
The main connections between countries in the FP7-HEALTH programme in decreasing order are:
German-British (4.391), German-French (2.941), French-British (2.612), German-German (2.608),
British-British (2.482), Dutch-British (2.420), Italian-British (2.230), German-Dutch (2.113),
German-Italian (2.084).
Among the 11 FP7-HEALTH projects coordinated by Greek organisations:
7 projects were coordinated by research organisations (REC) and collaborated with: 36
universities (Higher & secondary education organisations - HES), 22 research
organisations (REC), 14 companies (private for profit organisations - PRC), 3 public
bodies excluding education (PUB) and 1 organisation of a type not mentioned above
(OTH).
4 projects were coordinated by universities and collaborated with: 20 HES, 10 REC, 2
PRC, 2 PUB and 3 OTH.
Chart 21 shows the composition of the FP7-HEALTH projects coordinated by Greek organisations.
