13 ANNUAL REPORT EKT
EKT’s e-infrastructure comprises:
Datacenter
With usable Datacenter space of over 100
square meters and an emergency generator
power supply of 550KVA.
It features extensive Green IT facilities, such
as a Cold Isle Containment system and an
automated system for monitoring, logging and
improving the Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE)
of the Datacenter.
Virtualisation platform
201 servers in total, of which 152 are virtual
servers for minimizing financial and
environmental resources used.
Physical systems
• 49 enterprise grade x86 servers,
• 3 Storage Area Networks with 86Tb capacity
• one Free Open Source Software Cloud
based storage system, with 36Tb capacity,
based on commodity hardware
• tape library based backup systems with
over 120Tb of capacity
Flexibility and minimized
Total Cost of Ownership
Utilizing and developing FOSS where
possible, in order to provide scalable
services without software licensing fees.
• Virtualization and Cloud computing:
• Minimize development
and operational costs
• Transparent to underlying
physical infrastructure
• Employ Green IT principles:
• Minimize energy costs
and environmental footprint
• Green IT principles applied both at the
virtualization and the Datacenter layers
Operations support systems:
monitoring, management and control in real time for
2.310 parameters with remote alerting in a 24/7/365
basis.
High availability / scalability clusters
• High availability/scalability clusters of
infrastructure software such as application
servers, data base servers and the web
frontend, based on Free and Open Source
Software (FOSS) systems
• Server clusters for caching and automated
high throughput digital processing clause
• High throughput digitalization postprocessing
software and cluster
Software development
and operations management
and procedures
DevOps paradigm employed with automated
systems for tasks automation, orchestration
and configuration management.
A full staging environment with code version
management, issue tracking and continuous
delivery tools extensively used.
